Remembering Leo Rangell
Tribute to Leo Rangell
By Beth Kalish-Weiss

LEO
There is a new star in the northern sky
It is called Leo
It was created the night of May 28, 2011
All that day Leo picked up pieces of this world
Swirling around in a huge wind and took off
Into the night sky
How do I know?
I see it there
I feel him there
With me always
All ways
Who could ask for more?
I want more of Leo
Too, too short in real time together
He lives, now in the timeless space of
My unconscious mind, in memories
There we are, can be together
Some nights he is more visible
In the northern sky
I am learning where to look
For him there
It is hard.... not to touch
I must accept
He would want me to.
Beth Kalish-Weiss, FIPA is member of the CIPS Board of Directors representing LAISPS. She graciously contributed a poem in memory of her partner, Leo Rangell, who was and is a bright presence in the minds of many who knew and admired his contributions to psychoanalysis. This poem was read at his memorial service in Los Angeles this past July.
