Letter from the President of CIPS – Winter 2023
The opening lines of Lucille Clifton’s poem came to mind as I began this letter: “I’m running into the New Year”.
WINTER 2023
Dear CIPS Colleagues,
The theme for this issue is “Finding Community in Turbulent Times”.
As with past issues, this one will include updates about some of our members. These have been submitted by the CIPS reporters, whom I’d like to thank: Drew Tillotson, Susan Mitchell, Beth Siegel, and Dave Parnes. For future issues, I’ll be looking for reporters from institutes, societies, and study groups in CIPS that we don’t currently have a reporter for. If that sounds like you—please let me know! This issue also contains an in memoriam section, to further honor those who touched our lives and are no longer here with us.

The gift of the old friend standing over the stove,
making pancakes, in the flesh, not
