This workshop will be an introduction to the work of Jacques Lacan. We will consider his general theory and its relation to psychoanalytic treatment. Jacques Lacan (1901-1981) was a French psychoanalyst who led a seminar in Paris from 1953 until 1980. His interpretation of Freudian theory and practice became the basis for a new school of psychoanalysis that continues to have international influence today. This workshop will be addressed to working psychoanalysts and allow them to develop an appreciation of the clinical significance of the teaching of Jacques Lacan.
